The primary purpose of the qualification is to provide:
Qualified appropriately trained professionals for South Africa with the specific knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enable them to register as specialists in Dermatology with the Medical and Dental Professional Board of the Health Professions Council of South Africa. Future staff for the training of registrars in Dermatology in the medical schools in South Africa. |

The external assessors will moderate the exit-level outcomes at all levels on yearly basis. The Faculty maintains a bank of external examiners as approved by Council with the necessary knowledge, academic standing, clinical/practical expertise with national and international standing, from which external assessors will be appointed on a yearly basis. |
CRITERIA FOR THE REGISTRATION OF ASSESSORS |
All academic staff members of the Faculty of Medicine with the necessary qualifications and experience will be used as internal assessors. |
