The Secondary Education Certificate (Home Economics) is a second year specialisation in Home Economics subject content and method for Grades 8 - 10 and provide competences in teaching Home Economics. |

No persons shall be considered for registration for the Secondary Education Diploma unless he/she
Holds both the following two certificates: A qualification equivalent to NQF level 4, or a senior school-leaving or university entrance certificate issued by one of the departments of Education in South Africa or equivalent or RPL. At least a two year teacher's certificate. |

Demonstrate a competence in the module outcomes and content thereof in his/her teaching which meets the demands to teach the basic principles, concepts and techniques as required by the school curriculum 2. Present and develop competences based on the underlying content in an appropriate fashion to pupils 3. Employ a range of teaching strategies on the basis of continuous assessment appropriate to the learning programme to the students in his or her classes. |
ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA |
A core range of assessment criteria will be used to determine learner accomplishment. The overall criteria will include, but will not be confined to:
1. A sound understanding of the principles and concepts of education, science and technology 2. Ability to facilitate / teach in the school environment 3. Ability to prepare materials and conduct basic scientific laboratory exercises 4. Demonstrate an awareness of safe workplace / laboratory practice 5. Demonstrate competence and ability to identify and solve problems in the simulated work environments 6. Ability to work independently and as a team member 7. Demonstrate ability to work in a community, understand community needs and cultural diversity in regards to science and technology and its application en everyday life. INTEGRATED ASSESSMENT Continuous and authentic assessment strategies will be utilised in the evaluation of learners. Students with this diploma could be granted conditional credit in respect of subjects passed for this qualification towards any relevant qualification offered at Vista University. |

Educators qualified on NQF level 7 of Vista University will be assigned as internal examiners and adhere to requirements of Vista University |
