PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
A learner who has achieved this unit standard will be competent in:
  • Capturing and retrieving production related data on a production machine`s data processor in order to facilitate the production process and thereby effectuating optimum machine performance.

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
To enter a learning programme for this unit standard or to be assessed against this unit standard, the learner is assumed to have:
  • Literacy and numaracy at NQF level 2
  • Knowledge of applicable process quality standards
  • Knowledge of related product handling
  • Introduction to the Tobacco Processing Industry

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE
The learner is expected to perform the specific outcomes as reflected in this unit standard with minimal supervision, but with access to work-site procedures and operating instructions.

Depending on the field of work, the scope of this unit standard deals with the capturing and retrieving of production data relevant to one of the following processes:
  • Tobacco processing
  • Cigarette production
  • Filter rod production
  • Cigarette packaging

Depending on the machine type, the database can be accessed either by an alpha/numeric touch pad or a computer keyboard.
