A learner who has achieved this unit standard will be competent in:
  • Explaining the cold chain process for the storage and preservation of picked fruit.

    To enter a learning programme for this unit standard or to be assessed against this unit standard, the learner is assumed to have:

  • The scope of this unit standard deals with the explaining the cold chain process.
  • The specific outcomes reflected in this unit standard should be performed without direct supervision, but withaccess to work site procedures and operating instructions.
  • Cold chain preservation methods: pre-cooling, re-cooling (using forced air, extractor fans, tunnels), regulated atmosphere, controlled atmosphere, stacking and storage methods for cold chain maintenance.
