PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to develop a cleaning and maintenance plan for products so as not to affect sales. Learners are also able to sort products for in-house cleaning or maintenance and products that need to be send away, after sorting learners are able to clean products according to specifications using required cleaning materials and maintain products using required materials and equipment

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Developing a cleaning and maintenance schedule.
  • Sorting products for cleaning or maintenance.
  • Cleaning products following specifications.
  • Maintaining products for future use. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this qualification will have demonstrated competence in numeracy and literacy at NQF level 2 or equivalent.

  • Professional bodies/service providers include but are not limited to: dry cleaners, repair specialists, manufacturers, etc.
  • Safety standards include but are not limited to: hygienic regulations, safety and security standards, etc.

    Develop a cleaning and maintenance schedule.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    A cleaning and maintenance schedule is obtained to determine requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The cleaning and maintenance schedule is developed according to booking requirements and in the required format. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Products listed on the cleaning and maintenance schedule are checked against the booked out products to ensure they are completed/returned on time before booked date. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Booked items that must be cleaned before delivery are included on the schedule based on booking date required. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Sort products for cleaning or maintenance.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Products that must be cleaned or maintained by a professional body are listed according to specifications and company cleaning instructions and service provider. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Professional body/service provider is contacted telephonically and cleaning or maintenance of the product booked as per schedule delivery requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Products are delivered to professional body/service provider in correct manner in within the required timeframe and format. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Follow up roster for products delivered to professional bodies/service providers is developed and monitored according to company follow up standards and procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    Products that can be cleaned or maintained in house are listed on a planning schedule in line with their booked date.
