PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard has as its core purpose qualifying learners who will represent the country in missions abroad as Foreign Economic Representatives with in depth knowledge of the DTI as this is the lead role-player in marketing South Africa and ensuring that the country gains competitive edge in the global economy. Qualifying learners will be able to:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the structure and functions of the DTI
  • Analyse the mandate and vision of the DTI
  • Evaluate the role of the DTI , its policies, products and services
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the interrelation between the DTI, other government structures and economic agencies

    Learners accessing this unit standard are assumed to have completed a Level 5 qualification in the field of Business, Commerce and Management or its RPL equivalent

    The organogram of the organisation is understood by presenting it graphically as well as orally and in writing.

    The functions of the different components that make up the organisation are evaluated according to the organisation's prescripts.

    Anyone assessing learners against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA and must have a level 6 qualification in the field of Business, Commerce and Management and at least 2 years experience working at/with the DTI.
