PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
A learner credited with this unit standard will be able to perform corrective preventive maintenance on a flashlight and boom level crossing warning system according to prescribed corrective tasks, by applying signalling engineering practice. The learner will also be able to identify, prioritise and report any potential failures. This will ensure the availability of a functional flashlight and boom level crossing warning system which will contribute in part to a reliable railway signalling system, safe road-rail level crossings, safe and efficient train operations, road safety and effective rail transportation.

    Plan and procure the resources required to perform corrective preventive maintenance (CPM) tasks safely and correctly on the flashlight and boom level crossing warning system.
