PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The purpose of the learning is:

Learners who are assessed as competent against this unit standard will be able to monitor the performance of team members including disciplinary action and provide on-job training and coaching

It contributes to the development of a professional community of construction supervisors. The contribution to the national skills development strategy is the key developmental interface between learners and new competencies to be achieved.

Its contribution to socio-economic transformation is that learners would be able to undergo rpl-assessment and thereby receive recognition for previous learning and experience. This unit standard can therefore enhance the employability and career prospects of learners.
