PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to interpret 2D design details and implement the actual requirements in 3D, and so enhances the learner's ability to work in the exhibition industry. The learner's understanding of the details of the design will ensure the satisfaction of the client and others, to the benefit of the industry.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Understanding and applying design process fundamentals.
  • Interpreting 2D design diagrams orally.
  • Complying with design deadlines.
  • Producing single stand designs. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Competence in Computer Literacy, Mathematical Literacy and Communication at NQF level 2 or equivalent. 

    UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
  • Working as a contributor in the context of a small project / sub-project involving few resources and having limited impact on stakeholders, cost and environment.
  • Designs will include but are not limited to: all exhibition stand types, including portable, system and shop-fitted stands.
  • Progress reports will include but are not limited to: drawn, written, oral, visual and graphic media.

    Exhibition Industry standards are obtained and applied in a design in terms of company operating standards and procedures.

    The impact of missed deadlines is explained in terms of consequences for exhibitors, visitors and the success of the exhibition.

    Requirements for a single stand design are obtained through interaction with an exhibitor.

    A single stand design is conceptualised according to exhibitors' requirements.

    A single stand design is presented in required format.

    A single stand design is costed in line with organisational policies and procedures. 


    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
  • An individual wishing to be assessed (including through RPL) against this unit standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard or assessing this unit standard must be accredited as a provider with the relevant ETQA, or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Moderation of assessment will be conducted by the relevant ETQA according to the policies and guidelines for assessment and moderation of that ETQA, at its discretion, in terms of agreements reached about assessment and moderation between various ETQAs (including professional bodies).
