PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard will enable learners to apply the provisions of the Immigration Act to administer and monitor Immigration fines at a South African Immigration Service Centre. The qualifying learner will be able to calculate the applicable fine in relation to the offence, update the relevant records and the issue the prescribed documents in an ethical and professional manner in accordance with the departmental code of conduct.

  • Administer Immigration fines at an Immigration Service Centre.
  • Monitor and evaluate the administration of Immigration fines at an Immigration Service Centre.

    The legislation governing the administration of Immigration fines is identified and explained according to the Immigration Act. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Types and extent of Immigration fines are explained in relation to the provisions of the Immigration Act. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The administration of Immigration fines is managed to comply with the Immigration Act and departmental rules and regulations.

    Feedback on the limitations of the legislation and procedures of issuing Immigration fines are compiled according to departmental requirements.

    Immigration offences are identified and the related fines are calculated according to the departmental rules and regulations.

    Immigration fines are received and deposited in the Government account in accordance with the departmental procedures and regulations.

    The departmental records on issued Immigration fines are updated and related data is captured to meet departmental requirements. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 3 
    Monitor and evaluate the administration of Immigration fines at an Immigration Service Centre.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The roles and responsibilities of officials relating to the processing of Immigration fines are monitored according to departmental procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Analyses on issued Immigration fines is compiled in accordance with departmental requirements for monthly returns. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The conduct of officials that issue Immigration fines is evaluated in terms of the departmental code of conduct and the principles of Batho Pele. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Complaints and suggestions from clients and officials are collated and forwarded according to departmental procedures.

  • Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this Unit Standard and the related Exit Level Outcomes of the Qualification must be accredited by the relevant ETQA.
  • External Moderation of assessment will be overseen by the relevant ETQA at its discretion.
  • The accredited Training Provider will oversee internal moderation of assessment.

  • Assessors must be registered as assessors with a relevant ETQA or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Assessors must be in possession of a Qualification in Immigration Affairs or a related sub-field of Safety in Society at a minimum of NQF level 6.
