PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is intended for people who determine the replenishment requirements relating to stock. Persons credited with this unit standard will be able to operate in a number of contexts and will demonstrate the ability to make comparisons and interpret available information. These persons will further be able to transport stock in a manner that prevents shrinkage and losses and enhances the efficiency of the supply chain.

    Stock requirements are determined according to stock takes.

    The availability of stock from different sources is investigated.

    Prices of required stock available from providers are compared. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Location of providers in terms of travel costs is considered. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    Mark up is determined in order to assess viability of stock prices.

    A decision is made on which provider to use.

    The condition of the items is checked prior to leaving the provider's premises and any damaged stock is reported and/or replaced.

    Stock is loaded in an appropriate sequence and in a manner that protects the stock from damage/spoilage whilst in transit. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Ways in which shrinkage and losses occur are explained in relation to the process of loading and unloading stock.

    All variances between actual stock received and bought stock are identified and resolved.
