PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The purpose of this unit standard is to enable supervising of staff, equipment and activities on the gaming floor in a casino environment. The individual should develop competent usage of the appropriate policy and procedure and skills relevant to supervising in order to support best practice on the gaming floor. The sub-field should develop a high generic level of supervision of this area within casinos in South Africa.

On achievement of this unit standard the learner will understand and be able to:
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate legislation, regulations, policy and procedure.
  • Monitor team members, equipment, clients and events on the gaming floor area.
  • Investigate and respond to irregular events and activities.

    On completion of this unit standard the learner should be ready to develop learning in further processes related to supervising and managing teams in a gambling environment.

    Administrative and logistical duties related to supervising the gaming floor are carried out and/or completed in compliance with procedure and policy.

    Clients are monitored in order to anticipate and/or respond to needs and/or requirements timeously and discretely.

    Equipment is monitored to ensure that operations continue with minimal interruption.

    Relevant reports are reviewed to assist with improving performance.

    The gaming floor is monitored in order to identify irregular events and activities which need to be responded to. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Any irregular event or activity requiring a reaction is analysed for priority in terms of urgency and impact on the gaming floor area and/or business. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    An appropriate response is selected and implemented to resolve the situation. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Situations beyond ones level of authority/competency are reported to appropriate personnel in line with policy and procedure.

    The situation is monitored to ensure the response has the desired result, and any adjustments made as needed.
