PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard will be useful for people who are required to dissolve samples for further analysis in a chemical laboratory. A person credited with this unit standard can:

This unit standard is intended to promote general skills in and knowledge of dissolving samples for further analysis in a chemical laboratory in the mining and minerals sector in order to ensure knowledgeable and informed workers.

People credited with this unit standard are able to:
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills relating to occupational health, safety and environment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge relating to the dissolution of solid samples.
  • Dissolve a solid sample.
  • Explain or deal with problems relating to the dissolution of a solid sample.
