PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The purpose of this unit standard is to enable effective and efficient float management to ensure the smooth running of the game. The individual must be proficient in cash handling and understand the positive impact on the customer and the business of doing so.

On achievement of this unit standard the learner will understand and be able to:
  • Implement the technical aspects of managing a float.
  • Describe the importance of managing a float correctly.
  • Maintain good communication whilst managing the float. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is assumed that learners are competent in:
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Communication at NQF Level 2 or equivalent.

    The impact of effective and efficient float management on the organisation is described with reference to increased productivity and efficiency.

    The relationship between float management and customer satisfaction is explained with reference to a work situation. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Discrepancies encountered are dealt with in line to relevant company procedure.

    Communication with customers and supervisors is clear and audible and appropriate to the situation.

    The role and importance of mandatory announcements is explained in terms of their relevance to the function of managing the float. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Correct procedures are demonstrated and explained on components of a payout system in accordance with the customer's requests.
