This unit standard will be useful to people who are required to replace ropes on a dragline.

    The function of the ropes on a dragline is explained in accordance with specified requirements. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Explanation must include:
  • Drag ropes.
  • Hoist ropes.
  • Dump ropes.
     

  • ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The importance of replacing the ropes on a dragline to achieve healthy, safe production requirements is described in accordance with specified requirements.

    Explanation must include:

  • Damage to equipment.
  • Loss of production time through incorrect replacement.

    The workplace is cleaned and freed from hazards in accordance with specified requirements and housekeeping practices.

    The report on work performed which complies with specified requirements for format, content, accuracy and distribution is compiled and delivered within the agreed time.

    The consequences for health, safety and production of not testing the ropes in line with specified requirements, and current legislation are explained.
