PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard will be useful to people training to work in a Corporate Services Manager capacity at a diplomatic mission abroad.

People credited with this unit standard are capable of:
  • Managing physical security of assets and facilities.
  • Managing physical security of personnel.
  • Managing health and safety at a mission.

    Preventative and corrective measures are applied on a continual basis to counter risks.

    Security measures are carried out in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    A mission emergency plan is drawn up to deal with a range of possible emergencies and a diversity of threats. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Physical attacks, hostage situations, bombs and explosives, chemicals, natural disasters, demonstrations, unrest, asylum seekers, refugees.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Host country contingency plan is analysed to ensure mission evacuation plan is consistent with the contingency plan.

    The principles of safety and basic life support procedures are described within a management context. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Measures are planned and implemented to maintain a healthy, safe and secure work environment.

    Emergency situations are managed according to approved emergency plans and procedures.
