  • Demonstrate understanding of codes of practice and other legislation that relate directly to farm animals.

    Different species and breeds of animals commonly used in farming are described in terms of their uses and characteristics.

    The basic needs of each species of animal used are described in terms of food and shelter.

    Specific requirements for keeping different species together on the same farm are identified and explained in terms of protection of animals.

    Current legislation and codes of practice for farm animals are identified and classified in terms of their impact on farm animals. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    An explanation is given of how legislation and Codes of Practice can assist an inspector in deciding whether or not to prosecute, or to take other appropriate courses of action. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Available courses of action are described for given circumstances.
