PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
People completing this unit standard will have a general understanding of costing principles and their application to harvest and transport operations.

Qualifying learners credited with this Unit Standard cost harvesting and transport operations in order to determine operational cost requirements.

In particular, they are able to:
  • List the tasks required, production standards and quantities involved in a particular harvesting or transport operation.
  • Identify resources required for each task identified.
  • Determine rates for the individual tasks according to a standardized measure e.g. R/ton.

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
It is assumed that learners are competent in:
  • Communication and Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 3.
