PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Purpose:

This unit standard is for anyone who has to collect bulk milk with a bulk milk tanker from a milk tank on a farm.

A person credited with this unit standard is able to:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of bulk milk collection from a farm.
  • Prepare for bulk milk collection.
  • Transfer bulk milk from a tank to a milk tanker.
  • Perform end of collection duties.

    Learners accessing this unit standard would have to be in possession of a current heavy duty driver's licence covering the vehicle to be used.

    The different types of bulk milk collection documents are identified and accurately completed according to standard operating procedures.

    Equipment for volume determination is prepared according to standard operating procedures.

    Mechanical problems on the bulk milk tanker and equipment are reported according to standard operating procedures.

    Samples, results of sample analyses and documentation on bulk milk collection are processed according to standard operating procedures.
