PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The learner credited with this Unit Standard will be able to give an explanation of the factors and influences that affect the labour market and then be able to investigate how these impact on the labour market. Learners will also be able to give an account of how labour market dynamics can be used in mutual interest disputes, for reality testing, to facilitate a settlement, in arbitration proceedings and in the issuing of an award.

The qualifying learner is capable of:

  • Explaining the application of labour market dynamics to dispute management processes.

  • Consumer Price Index (CPI), inflation, unemployment, industry related settlement trends, labour legislation, economic growth rate, population growth, national skills base, collective agreements and sectoral determinations.

    Influences which affect the labour market are outlined with examples of how they affect it. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Influences may include but are not limited to:
  • Government and trade union policies, international and national economic trends, International Labour Organisation Conventions and corporate governance.

    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
  • An individual wishing to be assessed (including through RPL) against this Unit Standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding in place with the relevant ETQA.
