  • Be gainfully employed or self-employed in the world of work;
  • To enter Higher Education institutions.

    Critical Cross-Field Outcomes:

    A person assessed as competent (at NQF Level 4) is able to:
  • Creatively identify and solve problems, evaluate information, organise and manage activities and work in a group.
  • Communicate effectively with others as a member of a group or team.
  • Is culturally and aesthetically sensitive across a range of social contexts.
  • Can in a responsible manner identify and solve problems in an organised manner.
  • Organise, analyse and evaluate information and take decisions to decisions to adjust practises to meet different specifications.

    Specific Outcomes:

    The Level learner can:
  • Enter Higher Education institutions.
  • Manage and organise developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with others.
  • Participate responsibly in the life of a community.
  • Evaluate information gathered through a process of observation.
  • Demonstrate understanding and application of the range of knowledge and skills contemplated in the qualification as contained in the syllabi of the various instructional offerings. 

  • ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 
    A learner assessed as competent (at NQF Level 4) will be able to:
  • Demonstrate an understanding and is able to apply a range of knowledge and skills contemplated and required of in the qualification;
  • Manage and organise developmentally appropriate tasks;
  • Interact and communicate effectively as part of a team.

    Integrated assessment to ensure that the purpose on the qualification is achieved:
  • Continuous assessment is done in order to compile a year mark for the learner.
  • Summative assessment is conducted through a National Examination. 

  • ARTICULATION OPTIONS 
    Qualifying learners will be able to enrol for a Level 4 and Level 5 qualifications. 

    MODERATION OPTIONS 
    A system of moderators within the relevant education authority, as well as nationally, will be used to ensure standards. 

    CRITERIA FOR THE REGISTRATION OF ASSESSORS 
    Selected educator staff per institution to be used as assessors in a manner accommodated within the quality management system of the institution as well as nationally.

    As per the SAQA Board decision/s at that time, this qualification was Reregistered in 2006; 2009; 2015.
