PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
The purpose of the qualification is to enable the learner to practice as an Enrolled Nurse in a variety of health-care settings, within his/her Scope of Practice. The programme will prepare the learner to function within the following roles:
  • Provider/collaborator/facilitator
  • Professional role
  • Advocacy role 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    The learner must show evidence of learning at NQF level 5, Certificate of training from the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary. The learner must show proof of being enrolled with SANC. Recognition will be given to related prior learning gained formally or informally. The learner should have oral and written fluency in the language in which the course will be offered. A minimum requirement of NQF level Grade 10 or equivalent in basic numeracy.

    INTERNATIONAL COMPARABILITY 
    This qualification is accepted in some countries 

    ARTICULATION OPTIONS 
    Specific:
    Agreements are not in place at present. This qualification should articulate with nursing colleges on a national level.

    Generic:
    This qualification allows for progression to a higher level of Basic Nursing Course on a National level. A certificate for qualification as an Enrolled Nurse. 

    MODERATION OPTIONS 
    Internal moderation will be done by the Head of the Nursing Education Institution or by designated moderators.
    External moderation will be done in accordance of the designated quality assurance body. 

    CRITERIA FOR THE REGISTRATION OF ASSESSORS 
    Assessors must be qualified experts in the field in which they assess. Registration with South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse/Tutor is a requirement
