PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
The core purpose of the qualification is to enable qualified learners to acquire those competencies required to enhance performance, improve technique and to obtain theoretical knowledge as a basis to eventually instruct in the specialised style. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
Learners who register for the qualification should have fulfilled all the existing requirements of the previous level.

RPL will be recognised through a process of assessment of previously obtained skills and knowledge.

  • Self manage and organise his/her activities; and
  • Uses technology and science to broaden his/her general knowledge and ensure a healthy lifestyle and enhance their performance. 

  • ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 
  • Identify and correct faults within his/her and other partners while performing;
  • Having gained sufficient technical knowledge, is able to correct practical problems related to the particular style of Dance performed;
  • Is able to communicate, and work together as the demands required for partnering in the various fields of dance;
  • Communicate with partners/group, members of committees as these skills are required from competent dancers in the voluntary dance administration committees;
  • Negotiate with partners/group members in order to arrange required practice time for practical skills in order to excel and reach the required competency; and
  • General health and well-being is ensured through the study of Kinesiology and life skills applicable to the field of study.

    Integrated assessment to ensure that the purpose on the qualification is achieved:
  • Continuous assessment which is conducted at the institution over a period of time.
  • Summative assessment is conducted according to general policy regulations of National Department of Education and as stipulated in the particular instructional offerings' syllabi. Summative assessment is conducted through a National examination practical assessment in practical subjects as well as written examination in the others. 

  • MODERATION OPTIONS 
    The Moderator or Examiner is appointed by the GDE from the recommended names supplied to the National Examination Department. 

    CRITERIA FOR THE REGISTRATION OF ASSESSORS 
    The institution's own accredited staff will be used as assessors in such a manner that they comply with the quality control management system of the institution. For Internal Practical Examination (level 3) a panel consisting of the lecturers from recognised dance Institutions will determine the assessment. For External Practical Examination (level 4) a panel consisting of an External Examiner and a Moderator from the recognised Dance Institution will determine the assessment.
