PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
To provide the learner with the required skills, knowledge and experience required to:
  • Solve problems by means of exploring and critically evaluation abstract and personal situations;
  • Form the basis of further learning and research;
  • Perform tasks related to Manufacturing at level 5;
  • Be gainfully employed. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners who register for this qualification should have fulfilled all the exit requirements for level 4 (for Certificates only).

    Recognition of prior learning:

    The process that will enable the learner to receive credit for skills and knowledge previously obtained. Access to prior learning must be provided.

    Specific Outcomes:

    A learner assessed as competent at NQF Level 5 will be able to solve problems by means of exploring and critically evaluating abstract and personal situations.
    To demonstrate understanding and application of the range of knowledge and skills contemplated in the qualification as contained in the syllabi of the various programmes. 

  • ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 
  • Knowledge is demonstrated of the threats facing Physical Planning and Construction in the contemporary world in general and South Africa in particular.
  • Physical Planning and Construction resources are utilised in a sustainable way through appropriate inventorying, monitoring and managing.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the policies and legislation is demonstrated when dealing with matters regarding the use of Physical Planning and Construction resources.
  • Grass roots participation is secured through utilising Physical Planning and Construction and related techniques for stimulating involvement in projects.

    Integrated assessment to ensure that the purpose on the qualification is achieved:
  • Continuous assessment is done in order to compile a term mark for the learner
  • Summative assessment is conducted through a national examination
  • Practical training will be assessed in accordance with the requirements of the relevant sector. 

  • INTERNATIONAL COMPARABILITY 
    As agreed upon by SAQA from time to time. 

    MODERATION OPTIONS 
    Moderators are appointed for each instructional offering to ensure standards for the National Formative Examinations.
  • External Moderators are appointed to assess practical work in accordance to the criteria of the relevant sector.
  • Internal moderation by recognised provider structures.
