PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
A learner who has achieved this unit standard will be competent in:
Preparing a metallising machine for production to ensure readiness for the metallising of treated paper rolls.

To enter a learning programme for this unit standard or to be assessed against this unit standard, the learner is assumed to have:
  • Literacy and numeracy at NQF level 2
  • Knowledge of the application of quality control on metallised paper
  • Introduction to the Tobacco Processing Industry 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
  • The learner is expected to perform the specific outcomes as reflected in this unit standard with minimal supervision, but with access to work-site procedures and operating instructions.
  • The scope of this unit standard deals with the preparation of the metallising machine after supplying raw materials and before the metallising of paper.
  • Material includes different grammage metallised papers, graphite foil, aluminium wire, transfer tape, graphite paint, and masking tape.
  • Equipment includes, but is not limited to, evaporator boats, expansion shafts, special tools, hoisting equipment and pallet trucks.
