A learner who has achieved this unit standard will be competent in:
  • Filling and sealing a final container to ensure readiness for dispatch.

    To enter a learning programme for this unit standard or to be assessed against this unit standard, the learner is assumed to have:
  • Literacy and numeracy at NQF level 1.
  • Knowledge of the application of quality control on the final product.
  • Introduction to the Tobacco Processing Industry.

    UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    General guide for scope, context and level:
  • The learner is expected to perform the specific outcomes as reflected in this unit standard with minimal supervision, but with access to work-site procedures and operating instructions.
  • The scope of this unit standard deals with the filling and sealing of the final container after display unit filling and before dispatching.

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 1 
    Prepare for case filling and sealing. 
    OUTCOME NOTES 
  • Cleaning applicable machine components according to work site procedures.
  • Inspecting the condition of the equipment according to work site procedures.
  • Checking and supplying identification and control equipment according to shift scheduling requirements and work site procedures.
  • Checking raw materials against quality standards according to work site procedures.
  • Applying raw materials according to operating procedures.

    Assessment criteria

    Assessors will observe, confirm and evaluate evidence that will indicate that learners have demonstrated competence in each of the specific outcomes. In this unit standard the following specific criteria should be used:
