PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Filling cigarettes trays with cigarettes to be packed, ensuring the cigarettes comply with quality standards, and trays are properly identified. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
To enter a learning program for this unit standard or to be assessed against this unit standard, the learner is assumed to have:
  • Literacy and numeracy at NQF level 1
  • Knowledge of the application of quality control on cigarettes
  • Introduction to Tobacco Processing Industry 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    The learner is expected to perform the specific outcomes as reflected in this unit standard with minimal supervision, but with access to work-site procedures and operating instructions.

    The scope of this unit standard deals with the cigarette tray filling process from receiving empty trays to the dispatch of filled trays. 

    Specific Outcomes and Assessment Criteria: 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 1 
    Prepare tray filler unit for production.

  • Checking if the tray filler unit is operational according to operating and safety procedures
  • Ensuring that adequate trays are available for filling according to work-site procedures
  • Inspecting the trays for serviceability and cleanliness according to work-site procedures
  • Providing the upper tray station with empty trays according to operating procedures
