PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to process an export order and an export transaction and draw up a pro-forma invoice. The learner will be capable of compiling the documentation for an export transaction and arranging forward exchange cover for them. Learners will also be able to obtain and process authorisation to ensure export compliance. The learners will also be able to monitor the delivery of the export goods and administer payment and claims against invoice.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Planning an export sales transaction.
  • Arranging export logistics.
  • Carrying out export finance and risk management functions.
  • Exporting in compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Monitoring and controlling export transactions.

    An export order is communicated to affected parties for planning purposes.

    An export order is analysed to determine logistics and cost parameters. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    An export costing is carried out in accordance with organisation cost and profitability guidelines.

    A proforma invoice is drawn is processed for the purpose of obtaining buyer acceptance.

    An export transaction is analysed to determine logistics requirements.

    Export transaction logistics requirements are communicated to affected parties in order to finalise the transaction.

    The consequences of insufficient logistics planning and execution are explained in terms of the impact on customer relations.

    Documentation is compiled in terms of the requirements of financial instruments.

    Instructions are issued to freight forwarders for the movement of goods and the preparation and distribution of documentation.

    Forward exchange cover is arranged in terms of organisational policies and procedures.

    Goods are insured in terms of the risks defined by the Incoterms of the transaction.

    Commercial risks are administered according to organisational policies and procedures.

    Export in compliance with statutory requirements.

    An export transaction is checked to determine export and import countries' statutory requirements.

    Authorisations are obtained in terms of statutory requirements.

    Export and/or import procedures are carried out in terms of the statutory requirements required of the organisations Incoterms responsibilities.

    Monitor and control export transactions.

    Internal progress of the export order is monitored in compliance with organisations export procedures.
