PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for extension personnel in the related technical field to apply the principles of extension management.

This unit standard will specifically contribute to the qualitative development of learners by providing skills and knowledge of natural resource management, community dynamics, the production processes, and institutional support in the context of development decision-making.

Learners achieving this unit standard will be able to:
  • Clarify problems/needs to initiate discussion or action.
  • Identify all role-players/stakeholders to establish a group.
  • Encourage group member participation in the formulation of objectives to ensure ownership.
  • Manage group dynamics and group processes for effective functioning.

  • Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.
