LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
Learners will have attained an ABET Level 4 qualification and will be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Learners will also communicate verbally and in writing at ABET Level 4.

UNIT STANDARD RANGE
This standard will include patterns for the production of garments for use in the following:
  • Formal outerwear.
  • Casual outerwear.
  • Leisurewear.

UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS
Learning programmes will be accredited by the relevant Sector Education and Training Authority and any Education and Training Quality Assurance Bodies in place. Qualified assessors will assess competence against this standard.

    UNIT STANDARD ESSENTIAL EMBEDDED KNOWLEDGE
    The demonstrated understanding of:
  • Tools i.e. set square, tape measure etc.
  • Anatomical proportions (anthrapometric, body and garment measurements and reading sizing charts).
  • Terminology and processes used in pattern making.
  • Pattern making mathematical techniques.

  • Critical Cross-field Outcomes (CCFO):

    UNIT STANDARD CCFO IDENTIFYING
Identify and solve problems relating to machines used in pattern making processes.

    UNIT STANDARD CCFO WORKING
Work as a member of a team meeting quality and time standards as they relate to producing patterns ensuring that materials required and "extra hands" needed contribute to those standards being met.

    UNIT STANDARD CCFO ORGANISING
Organise, analyse and evaluate information and take decisions to adjust practices to meet different specifications.

    UNIT STANDARD CCFO COMMUNICATING
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing passing on appropriate information and compiling reports to ensure successful completion of processes to produce patterns.

    UNIT STANDARD CCFO DEMONSTRATING
Understand the world as a set of related systems thereby being able to relate to the pattern making process leading to requirements of cutting and sewing practices and then finishing, as a cycle of processes.

    REREGISTRATION HISTORY
