PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
To recognise the competence of learners who are able to operate a non-continuous furnace as used in some molten glass production operations.
The qualifying learner is able to: A non-continuous furnace comprises of furnace, heating system (electric and or gas), feed system (manual conveyors and vibratory), tapping system (that maybe continuous or batch and may require titling or lifting the furnace). Safety and dust handling facilities are considered to be part of the whole furnace. |
