PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD

This Unit Standard is intended for people wish to have the skills and knowledge necessary to arrive at motivated solutions to the legal problems encountered in the forwarding environment.

Individuals who are credited with this Unit Standard will be able to apply knowledge and understanding of the legal principles of international trade and transportation to forwarding operations.

FOR 12 Facilitate the final release and delivery of goods imported by surface modes,

FOR13 Facilitate the final release and delivery of goods imported and exported by Airfreight.

FOR 14 Apply Groupage processes and procedures to cargo imported by surface,

FOR 15 Apply Breakbulk Operations processes and procedures to cargo imported by airfreight.

FOR 17 Generate shipment costings, invoices, credit notes and estimates.

UNIT STANDARD RANGE

The applied competency expressed in this standard cover a variety of familiar and unfamiliar processes requiring a range of responses based on informed judgment and reliant largely on the ability of the learner to analytically interpret and disseminate information, in order to achieve a desired outcome.

Competence includes the application of influencing and negotiation techniques, in the pursuit of the required result.

UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS

1. Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.
2. Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard must be accredited by the relevant ETQA.
3. Moderation of assessment will be done by the relevant ETQA at its discretion.

1. Apply knowledge and comprehension of the legal framework of forwarding for the protection of the forwarding operation and its clients.
2. Demonstrate an understanding of the law as it applies separately to each aspect in the forwarding process
3. Identify importers` and exporters` respective responsibilities with regard to cost, risk and carriage as defined in the INCOTERMS
