PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard is intended for people wishing to expand their existing forwarding and clearing skills and knowledge into the advanced environment of Project Management, imports and exports.

Individuals who are credited with this Unit Standard will be able to demonstrate the ability to prepare and present proposals for the securing of contracts for the co- ordination of the international movement of project cargoes, on a door to door basis, and carry them out in accordance with the client`s requirements

UNIT STANDARD RANGE

Outcomes will be judged by whether the learner can:

1. Determine from the relevant source documents the handling and transportation requirements of abnormal loads.
2. Secure contracts for the forwarding aspects of capital projects by the effective compilation and presentation of proposals using client source documentation and the principles, processes and procedures underlying project management
3. Apply a knowledge and understanding of the relevant transport regulations for the movement of abnormal loads on a door-to-door basis in the planning and co- ordination of abnormal load transportation.
4. Apply a knowledge and understanding of the relevant sections of the Customs Act (e.g. Staged Consignment Rulings and Temporary Importations) in the facilitation of the import process and the minimisation of duties and taxes payable on the importation of project cargoes.
5. Apply a knowledge and understanding of available transport providers, surface and air route alternatives to the selection of the optimum route for each abnormal piece in a project.
6. Apply a knowledge and understanding of landside and sea transit times to the planning and co- ordination of the delivery of project abnormal loads in concert with the project building schedule.
