A learner who has achieved this unit standard will be competent in:
  • Performing an overhaul on a rod maker cut-off unit to ensure readiness for replacement when required.

    To enter a learning programme for this unit standard or to be assessed against this unit standard, the learner is assumed to have:

  • National Certificate in Cigarette Production - NQF Level 3
  • Mechanical background - NQF Level 3 or equivalent 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
  • The learner is expected to perform the specific outcomes as reflected in this unit standard with minimal supervision, but with access to work-site procedures and manufacturer`s instructions.
  • The scope of this unit standard deals with the overhaul of a rod maker cut-off unit in a workshop.
  • Replacement components include but are not limited to knife holders, ratchet mechanism, oil seals, needle races, return spring and bearings.
