PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
A learner who has achieved this unit standard will be competent in:

Cleaning conditioning machines to ensure readiness for production. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
To enter a learning programme for this unit standard or to be assessed against this unit standard, the learner is assumed to have :
  • Literacy and numeracy at NQF level 1
  • Knowledge of the application of quality control during tobacco processing
  • Introduction to the Tobacco Processing Industry 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    The learner is expected to perform the specific outcomes as reflected in this unit standard with minimal supervision, but with access to work site procedures and cleaning instructions

    The scope of this unit standard deals with the cleaning of conditioning machines to ensure readiness for production

    Machines include, but are not limited to:
    1. Screw conditioner
    2. Conditioning tunnel
    3. Cylinders
    4. Dryers

    Although the learner is expected to perform the specific outcomes as reflected in this unit standard on all of the above-mentioned conditioning machines, assessment will be conducted on any two of the production conditioning machines as chosen by the assessor.

    Prepare for cleaning of machine.

  • Removing tobacco from the machine according to work site procedures
  • Obtaining cleaning utensils required according to work site procedures
