PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD

This Unit Standard is intended for all persons who have to screen candidates and refer them to other officials for handling of their cases. The person credited with this Unit Standard is able to demonstrate an understanding of the process of screening and referrals.

The qualifying learner is capable of:

Conducting the screening of a referral

Completing the screening of a referral

Demonstrate an understanding of the application and term "Jurisdiction".

1. The application and interpretation of the term "Jurisdiction" is explained with examples.

2. The various dispute resolution bodies and relevant statutes that affect jurisdiction are listed and an explanation is given of how the term "Jurisdiction" applies to each.

Conduct the screening of a referral.

1. A referral is identified for screening and the appropriate administrative processes are applied relevant to the case.

2. A checklist is compiled incorporating the criteria used for screening and attached to the relevant referral.

1. The completed checklist with referral is produced for verification to the line manager/SCMO.

2. The parties to the dispute are advised of the next process and appropriate administrative processes are completed correctly.

UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS

An individual wishing to be assessed (including through RPL) against this Unit Standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA, or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA

Anyone assessing a learner against this Unit Standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA, or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA

Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this Unit Standard or assessing this Unit Standard must be accredited as a provider with the relevant ETQA, or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA

Moderation of assessment will be conducted by the relevant ETQA at its discretion.
