PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Qualifying learners are able to remove spent liquor contaminants from pulp by operating, monitoring and controlling the washing and cleaning process whilst adhering to Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality requirements. They also understand the fundamental process principles of removing spent liquor contaminants from pulp. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
Learners attempting this unit standard are required to read, understand and interpret operating manuals which are of a technical nature. It is therefore required that they have achieved NQF level 2 or equivalent accreditation. 

UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
This unit standard covers the process for removing contaminants from pulp from brown stock supply to storage and weak spent liquor storage.
