PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
A learner who has achieved this unit standard will be competent in:
Performing, without supervision, the sieving and grading of grain mill stocks to manufacture finished products and maintain quality. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
To enter a learning programme for this unit standard or to be assessed against this unit standard, the learner is assumed to have:
  • Literacy, numeracy and communication skills at or equivalent to NQF level 1.
  • Attended a course on the sieving and grading grain mill stocks according to quality and work site procedures. Or
  • Had in house training on the sieving and grading grain mill stocks according to quality and work site procedures.
  • An understanding of General Safety in the work place at NQF level 1. 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    The scope of this unit standard deals with the sieving and grading of grain mill stocks, and in particular with the maintenance of all equipment involved in the process, as well as the knowledge of sieving materials used.

    Specific outcomes as reflected in this unit standard are performed without direct supervision, but with access to work site procedures and operating instructions.

    Unit standard Sieving and grading of grain mill stocks GRM 007 applies to both maize and wheat milling.

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 1 
    Prepare for the the serving and grading of grain mill stocks.
