PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard is intended for people who are required to screen and process new credit and debit card applications.

People credited with this Unit Standard are able to:
  • Receive and validate the application
  • Prepare and capture applications
  • Process approved credit card applications
  • Process declined credit card applications 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is assumed that learners are competent in:
  • Communication at NQF Level 2
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 2. 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
  • Application and supporting documentation includes applications received from branches, other departments and/or directly from clients by means of telephone, fax, mail and email.
  • Collection of missing documentation includes requests for additional information from clients, branches and/or other banks and credit reference houses.
  • Quality assurance of the application includes checking the client details, branch delivery address and code, signature, credit card limit and confirmation of application with client.

    Credit bureau checks are conducted in line with company requirements if operating on manual system

    The scoring system is applied in line with company procedures and operating manual system

    The application is captured electronically for both manual and automatic systems and client information is kept current 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Documentation from own and other banks (including a bank code) is verified when operating the manual system

    Instructions to issue and emboss plastics are given/generated in accordance with company specifications.

    Information regarding a declined application is received and recorded as per company specifications. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Relevant parties are advised of the declined status of the application as per company specifications.

    Queries regarding declined applications are handled and resolved in accordance with company specifications. 


    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
    1. Anyone assessing a learner against this Unit Standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA, or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA
    2. Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this Unit Standard or assessing this Unit Standard must be accredited as a provider with the relevant ETQA, or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
    3. Moderation of assessment will be overseen by the relevant ETQA according to the moderation guidelines in the relevant qualification and the agreed ETQA procedures.
