PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard will be able to prepare to blow dry hair into elementary styles, blow dry hair into elementary style and complete follow up actions

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Preparing to blow dry hair into elementary styles
  • Blow drying hair into elementary style
  • Air waving or tonging into elementary styles
  • Completing follow up actions

    Learners assessing this qualification will have demonstrated competence against unit standards in mathematical, computer, numerical and communication studies at NQF Level 1 or equivalent.

    Prepare to blow dry hair into elementary styles.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The client is consulted with to determine and confirm service requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The client is prepared for the blow dry by analysis of the hair and scalp. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The style is identified and selected to be blow dried in accordance with compatibility hair and scalp analysis. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The client is protected against water and or product spillage. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    The correct tools are selected to meet the style requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 6 
    Hair is prepared for blow drying in accordance with hair and scalp analysis and product instructions.

    Blow dry hair into elementary styles.

    Styling products are selected and applied to hair in accordance with the manufacturers' instructions, hair analysis and following service requirements

    Hair is blow dried to meet customer's needs and leave hair in optimum conditions 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Dried hair is dressed and finished to meet the clients' needs and to ensure maximum hair protection

    Blow dry is completed within recognised time frames.

    Air wave or tong into elementary styles.

    Actions include providing homecare advice that is consistent with client's hair type and completed service

    Hair is air waved or tonged to meet customer's needs and leave hair in optimum conditions
