PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Learners credited with this unit standard are able to source and prepare materials, and maintain tools and equipment for producing craft products.

This unit standard contributes to the competence of those who want to develop a career path in the Art, Craft and Design sector, and contributes to greater levels of production and quality in this industry.

If learners are competent in this unit standard then the materials, tools and equipment used will then generally improve and increase production quality of craft products. The learner will also be able to improve and maintain tools and equipment used in the production of craft products to increase general productivity.

Learners credited with this unit standard are capable of:
  • Sourcing appropriate materials for production of craft product range.
  • Selecting and caring for appropriate tools and equipment for production of craft product range.
  • Preparing materials for production of craft product range. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is recommended that the learner has completed the NQF level 2 National Certificate in Craft Production or equivalent with competencies in preparing materials, tools and equipment for craft production.
