PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard forms part of the National Certificate in Auctioneering Support. It is designed for all people working in the Auctioneering sector and who play an active part in the Auctioneering process

The qualifying learner is capable of
  • Describing the requirements of a bid caller or chanter
  • Describing and explaining bid calling and chanting
  • Describing and explaining bid calling and chanting psychology
  • Describing and explaining spotting and writing techniques 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is assumed that learners accessing this Unit Standard are competent in Communication and Mathematical Literacy at NQF level 2 or equivalent. 

    UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
  • Types of auctions will include on party vs. consignment, catalogue, antiques, general merchandise, real estate, liquor and motor vehicles, domestic and wild animals
  • Clients would include new, regular, walk in, expected and unexpected
  • Body language will include gestures, eye contact, posture

    Buyer observation methods and techniques are described in terms of the way this knowledge is use to facilitate the sale of goods

    Auction communication methods and techniques are described according to international standards
