PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this Unit Standard is able to support the provision of the necessary after-sales service to the client.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Helping the senior consultants determine the effectiveness of the solution implemented during the consulting engagement
  • Collecting and recording data on the client's after-sales requirements, following the close-out of a consulting engagement
  • Assisting in developing an "optimising model" for the change project
  • Assisting the senior consultants in maintaining the changes implemented during the consulting engagement 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is assumed that learners are competent in Communication at NQF Level 4. 

    UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    The learner will not engage in consultancy as an independent practitioner, but will do so in collaboration with, and under the guidance of, more experienced consultants.

    A relevant set of probes and questions is prepared for administration to the client

    Answers and/or responses relating to the effectiveness and sustainability of the implemented changes are obtained from the client and end-users of the solution and factored into subsequent solution-related decision making 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Collected data are properly recorded according to organisational policy and procedures to enable senior consultants to effect sustainable solutions

    Collect and record data on the client's after-sales requirements.

    Appropriate information-gathering techniques and instruments are applied, in accordance with organisational procedures and policies, to ascertain the client's after-sales requirements

    Data is collected and recorded to determine ongoing client needs

    Assist in developing an optimising model for the change project.

    Research data is analysed to determine what is needed to meet identified client needs

    Appropriate logical conclusions are drawn from this analysis in consultation with senior consultants and presented in a written report

    A model for optimising and sustaining the implemented change that was developed and agreed upon between consultant and client is detailed, with reasons given as to why the chosen model will be suited to the task

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Assistance is provided in preparing a formal contract between client and consulting firm to enable after-sales support to be given after the close-out of the consulting engagement 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The precise nature and extent of post-engagement consulting intervention(s), agreed upon between consulting firm and client in terms of the chosen optimising model, are detailed in order to facilitate implementation 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Assistance is given in the performing of appropriate actions to fulfil the commitment to provide after-sales support to client, as specified by senior consultants
