PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
This is a fundamental unit standard at Level 3, which can be credited to the Advanced Certificate in Education (School Management and Leadership) at Level 6.
The unit standard is suitable for those in school management and leadership positions, for office-based educators supporting school managers, for aspirant school managers, and for those responsible for subject/learning area/phase leadership in schools. Qualifying learners should be able to use information and communication technology to improve professional and administrative efficiency. It is recognised that school managers and leaders should demonstrate much greater proficiency in the use of ICTs than is outlined in this unit standard. However, in view of the fact that relatively few schools in the more rural provinces have computers, it is unfeasible to demand higher levels of ICT proficiency than this. |
LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING |
The credits and level of this unit standard is based on the assumption that learners have no previous experience in using basic computer packages. However, basic numeracy and literacy is assumed. |

PROVIDERS CURRENTLY ACCREDITED TO OFFER THIS UNIT STANDARD: |
This information shows the current accreditations (i.e. those not past their accreditation end dates), and is the most complete record available to SAQA as of today. Some Primary or Delegated Quality Assurance Functionaries have a lag in their recording systems for provider accreditation, in turn leading to a lag in notifying SAQA of all the providers that they have accredited to offer qualifications and unit standards, as well as any extensions to accreditation end dates. The relevant Primary or Delegated Quality Assurance Functionary should be notified if a record appears to be missing from here. |
