PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to provide feedback to individuals or groups of people in SMME's. It will ensure that positive communications take place between the Business Adviser and the Owner/Manager of the SMME. IT will also enable the learner to respond to Feedback received from the owner/manager of the SMME

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Planning and preparing to give feedback.
  • Providing feedback.
  • Receiving and responding to feedback. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this qualification will have demonstrated competence in:
  • Computer Literacy at NQF Level 3.
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 4.
  • Accountancy and Communications at NQF level 4 or its equivalent.

    Feedback plan specifies the right time and place to give feedback and utilizes all available information and evidence.

    Information is evaluated for accuracy, relevancy and confidentiality in line with company standards.

    Feedback is given to the same owner/manager within agreed timeframes.

    Feedback provided to SMME owner is on a basis that meets the organisational needs. It is constructive, tactful, honest and respectful, factual and relevant to the outputs and behaviors required. It is given with sensitivity and empathy to maximize acceptance and is conductive to good relationships. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Behavior and/or events that are the focus of the feedback and described in neutral terms, with no reference to character and/or personality of the recipient. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Legal and ethical requirements regarding the time, place and other individuals present are identified and adhered to in line with company standards. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    The content of the message meets the objective set for providing the feedback. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 6 
    Agreement is sought on feedback and a date for follow-up and outcomes are recorded according to requirements and in required format.

    Feedback is respond to using the appropriate medium, language, content, tone, the occasion and owner/manager disposition.

    Outcomes of the Feedback received is evaluated to determine further actions by both parties.

    Open communication is maintained with owner/manager throughout the feedback process.
