PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
The purpose of this unit standard is that learners are capable of safely escorting vehicles and people through traffic in various situations. Learners who are credited with the unit standard are able to maintain traffic control and optimise traffic flow while ensuring the safe passage of those they are escorting.
This unit standard also allows for transformation with the traffic policing profession, as learners become models for other learners. This attracts quality people and allows for the aspirations of people to be part of the traffic policing profession. The recognition of prior learning will formalise informal and non-formal leaning and learners will be able to obtain credits towards a national qualification. Credited learners are capable of: |

The escorting competence attained to achieve this unit standard must be applied to ensure uninhibited movement of escorted vehicles and persons in all weather conditions, day or night. Included are, for example, funeral processions, abnormal vehicles, abnormal loads, dangerous goods on vehicles, dignitaries, emergency vehicles, sport event participants, etc. Escorting equipment includes the vehicles used for escorting vehicles and persons. |
