PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
Learners working towards this standard will be learning towards the full qualification, or will be involved in or working within a cleaning services environment. Qualifying learners will be able to wash the exterior of a vehicle using automated vehicle washing equipment. |
LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING |
The learner has the speaking and listening ability equal to an ABET Level 1 Com 101 standard and/or any other communication skill that will enable him/her to confirm the knowledge and skills required by this unit standard. |
UNIT STANDARD RANGE |
1. The scope of this unit standard is for any person who needs to wash the exterior of a vehicle using automated vehicle washing equipment.
2. In the context of this unit standard a vehicle is any type of passenger car minibus or light commercial vehicle 3. The level assigned to this unit standard is appropriate because the process is limited in range, very repetitive and familiar, limited generation of new ideas are needed and the person has no responsibility for the learning of others. Range statements that refer to assesment criteria in this unit standard: 1. Assessment criteria marked with are assessed according to worksite procedures. 2. Surfaces on a vehicle can include, but are not limited to the body, the bumpers, the lights, the wheel rims and tyres, the mirrors, windows and sunroof. 3. Chemicals refer to detergents used to remove light soil, brake dust, and bitumen deposits, clean glass, and remove stubborn marks. 4. Soil and marks refer to but is not limited to dirt, tar spots, insects and brake dust. 5. Clothing and PPE includes but is not limited to uniforms and waterproof safety shoes. 6. Dedicated chemicals, consumables and equipment refers to but is not limited to detergents, sponges, brushes, cloths, spray bottles, squeegees and high pressure washing equipment. 7. Vehicle includes but is not limited to a car, minibus or light commercial vehicle. 8. Wheel rims/hubcaps refer to but is not limited to steel rim, alloy rim, metal and plastic hubcaps. 9. Operating instructions refer to the manufacturer's operating instruction or an extract thereof. |
