PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This standard is in the core category of the NQF Level 3 National Certificate in CTFL Mechanician Processes. Learners who are assessed competent with this unit standard are able to describe and relate to main production sectors, describe and relate to end uses and describe and relate to competitors to the CTFL industry. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
Learners will have attained an ABET Level 4 qualification or equivalent qualification at NQFLevel 2.

  • Competitors refer to those countries that are major threats and include those from the west and the east.
  • This standard applies to processes involving the manufacturing of clothing, textiles, footwear and leather products.

    Methods in which the industry can improve are related, in accordance with industry perceptions.

    Methods of improving efficiency and effectiveness of processes and product to beat competitor markets can be described, in accordance with industry perceptions.
