PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Identify and state the purpose of various water piping systems, their components and accessories used in air-conditioning and refrigeration applications. People credited with this unit standard are also able to describe the types, operation and construction of water regulating valves used in water piping systems. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
It is recommended that people undertaking training for the competencies in this unit standard are already credited with standards relating the fundamentals of air-conditioning and refrigeration systems and related components or demonstrate equivalent skills and knowledge.
