PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
A learner credited with this unit standard will be able to install components of a remote control system according to plans and specifications by applying signalling engineering practice. This will ensure the availability of correctly installed remote control systems which contribute in part to a reliable railway signalling system, safe and efficient train operations and effective rail transportation.

    The learner will be certified as competent after the correct installation of a remote control rack and sub-unit was successfully performed on a typical remote control system used in a railway signalling environment.
